Playground: taking action

There are loads of things you can do to make sure your kids get the best from the web. We haven’t got all the answers but here are a few tips – you know your child better than anyone, so choose what works for you.

  • Parental controls
Parental controls can help you manage what your kids see online by blocking websites and apps you think are unsuitable for your child.
  • Fundamentals
Think through the fundamentals you want to establish with your child, like not sharing naked pictures or writing anything nasty online.
  • Skills
Consider what real world skills your child could develop further online, like cooking or music. Help them find sites and apps to support this.
  • Common sense
Help your child build digital common sense by talking to them about the benefits and risks of the web.
